The Emerald Court Jacket is RASTAH's most formal statement in this collection — a garment that operates at the intersection of ceremony and streetwear, that takes the language of the court and rebuilds it in materials that move through the present without apology.
The base is silk banarsi — a woven silk from Varanasi with a history that spans centuries and courts and continents. Attached on top is a layer of hand-woven heavyweight denim, the two fabrics bonded in a construction that has no obvious precedent. A hand-embroidered border runs the perimeter of the jacket, worked in dabka and pearls, a detail level that belongs to heirlooms rather than garments. Golden zips mark the front closure and pockets, the colour chosen to rhyme with the banarsi beneath.
Silk banarsi and heavyweight denim are materials that could not be further apart in their associations: one is ceremony, court, inheritance; the other is labour, utility, the American West imported into South Asian wardrobes. Their combination on this jacket is not ironic — it is sincere, an assertion that both traditions carry equal weight and that the meeting between them produces something neither could be alone.
Courts are built to impress. The emerald court is the one where craft is the currency, where what you wear announces what you value. This jacket is the full statement of that court's aesthetic — worn by someone who means it.
