‘Elevate your self to the extent, that before every destiny,
God should himself ask man as to what he desires.’
The Rastah Poet jacket brings eastern sensibility to a western classic. The hand distressed, light wash denim bears embellished appliqué detailing and heavyweight brass buttons. Kashmiri jamawar with a paisley pattern is appliquéd on the sleeve in a jacquard weave. At the front, there is a hand embroidered dabka monogram badge, a reinterpretation of classic Pakistani military aesthetics, as well as a square badge with handwoven khaadi fabric bearing persian text from the Khamsa of Nizami. At the back, there is a hand painted stanza by Allama Iqbal, who is affectionally deemed the Poet of the East. The upholstery fabric, peeking through the denim, features an illustration from the Akbarnama, depicting Shah Jehan’s entry at Surat. The jacket fits true to size and is slightly cropped.
